Isaac David Danielson is our favorite “new little person” in the world. It’s been so fun to be part of several friends’ new arrivals in the past few years and Isaac is a special new addition because his parents are some of our lifelong best friends and because we’re now his godparents. What an honor! And of course, so much fun. You can check out current photos and stories about him on his parent’s website – he’s already three months old now, although he’s not a small kid! (The photo at left was taken when he was , oh, about 8 hours old. He’s definately grown a LOT since then.)
I’ve also tried out a new blog function to post some music here – Be Thou My Vision - we’ll see if it works out (this is the 1st song, Be Thou My Vision). The link is to a Lullabye CD - the gift Peter and I made for Isaac’s birth (planned even way before we knew we would be asked to be ‘officially’ supportive of his little life.) This CD (see CD Jacket Insert here), is a mix of lullabies selected and sung by Isaac’s paternal family (Uncle Josh and grandparents Karen and David), and some of us friends-who-love-him-like-family (me and Peter, and my brother Tim and his wife Meghan). Putting together the CD was a really fun and meaningful process for me – it reminded me of how powerful music has always been in my childhood and adulthood, how music has continued to unite me with me own family and with friends like the Danielsons – across generations, distance, theological diversity, various emotional states, and all kinds of other things. Music gets under my skin, into my heart, and seems to communicate beauty and truth so deeply - so it seemed only fitting that our first gift to this new person we love is one of voices that love him and love music. Welcome to the world, Isaac!
